Caroline has practiced in the field of labour and employment law since her call to the Ontario Bar in 1997. After graduating from the University of Toronto Law School in 1995, Caroline spent 10 years working in the labour and employment law departments of two large, national firms where she gained broad experience in all aspects of labour and employment law acting on behalf of many of Canada's top employers. Caroline left Bay Street in 2005 to start her own practice in which she continues to focus on employment and labour law issues.
Caroline's practice covers the full range of workplace issues, from hiring to firing and all points in between. She has vast experience drafting employment and executive contracts, as well as retention and separation agreements. She regularly provides advice and representation on disciplinary and disability management issues, accommodation and human rights matters, and on workers' compensation and employment standards claims. Caroline also handles all matters related to the termination of employment, including the negotiation of settlement agreements or, if necessary, wrongful dismissal litigation.
As an advocate, Caroline has been involved in numerous proceedings before labour and employment tribunals including the Canada Industrial Relations Board, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal, employment standards hearings and labour arbitrations. She has also appeared in the Superior Court of Ontario, the Divisional Court and the Ontario Court of Appeal with respect to employment litigation and judicial review applications.
